Welcome to my Substack.
Huntress At Home has been my “brand” for years now, but with my recent decision to quit using a smart phone in my daily life, I felt it was time for a clean slate.
In 2016, I started my blog Huntress At Home as a very general stay-at-home mom blog. At the time it was my passion simply because it was my entire life. Since then, I’ve expanded into more niche areas.
In 2019, I started posting on Instagram and found my groove in a wonderful community of Christian women. I have gained a small but loyal following through a little bit of homesteading content and a lot of theology.
I am so grateful for all the friends I’ve made using Instagram and the followers who have stuck around to read my scribbles. Anyone who has followed me for long knows that is exactly the right description, too. I’m not organized enough for pretty backgrounds and carousels most of the time. >.<
Huntress At Home is a play on words. My name is Hunter, but my friends and family call me Huntress. I am pretty much home all the time. Where the double meaning comes in: I also am passionate about developing myself into a more robust wife, mother, homemaker, homesteader, and homeschooler. And helping other women do the same. Therefore, becoming something of a Huntress within our homes. I imagine something along the lines of the Proverbs 31 woman, but with more weapons. Especially that sword of the Spirit. Okay, that was corny.
This blog will be a continuation of the writing I have done on Instagram for the last few years. So, if you are reading this, thank you for following me over here to Substack.
I will continue to write most of my content for free, however, since I have invested countless hours into writing free content (however scribbly it may be), I will also have a paid option for anyone who feels in particular that they have gleaned some lasting value out of my writing and would like to help support my work. I would love to make writing a full-time pursuit that I can feel justified dedicating my time and attention to!
Free content will likely consist of much of the theology content typical of my Instagram stories as well as resource-sharing, a revamping and re-publishing of content from my highlights, and other small side topics.
Some of you may remember that I was working on a guide for slowly adopting a more “from scratch” or “self-sufficient” lifestyle. A plan to help (specifically) stay-at-home moms take one week at a time to apply all the changes they want to make from the overwhelming volume of information thrown at us about slow living and beginning a homestead. Content like this (which will be released in installments) will require a paid subscription. Paid subscribers will also be able to request topics and content as well as participate in question and answer discussions, etc. I may also do other projects in the future such as other lifestyle guides, Bible studies, homeschool content, etc.
It is my intention to post once a week at this time and reassess in the near future.
I am really looking forward to it.
I truly thank you all for your love, encouragement, and willingness to lay the smack down on me *gently* when I am wrong.
With love,
Hunter of Huntress At Home
It’s lovely to have a place to connect and read your ‘scribbling’ again. <3
